Appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Office in July of 2011, Michael leads all of FCT's offices and businesses across Canada as well as its more than 850 employees, ensuring the company delivers products and solutions that bring value to its lawyer, lender and real estate-related customers. FCT offers a full range of risk management solutions from residential and commercial title insurance and title processing, debt recovery and valuation services to help our clients deliver and grown their businesses.

Michael exemplifies FCT's commitment to helping its clients achieve their business objectives. He is a proven leader with a deep expertise in developing strong client relationships, a disciplined focus on operations and execution and a commitment to tackle every challenge and opportunity with a passion to serve and a passion to exceed.

Prior to becoming Executive Vice President and C.O.O., Michael was the Senior Vice President responsible for the Lender's Advantage Division, Sales and Business Development, Marketing, Legal, Claims and Underwriting Divisions. He has held leadership roles in every department since he began his career with FCT as Regional Director for Atlantic Canada and Director of Business Initiatives for Canada in 1995.

Michael practiced law in Dartmouth as a partner with the law firm of Boyne Clarke until 2005. He began his legal career at another law firm in Dartmouth, Landry McGillvery as first an associate and then achieving partner status. His practice dealt extensively with real estate related matters, but he also regularly appeared before the Courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada on both commercial and civil matters.

Michael holds a law degree from Dalhousie University. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1978and is a member of the Nova Scotia Barrister's Society. Michael has been a regular speaker at industry conferences and events on topics such as real estate matters pertaining to title insurance. He is actively involved in many community and volunteer boards and currently serves as past President on the board of Skate Oakville after a 5 year term as President. He and his wife Karen have three children; Leigh, Ian and Heidi.
